What moves the talents of the intrapreneur project “PowerMoulds”?
Nadine, Fabian, Sharareh and Silas form the intrapreneur team of the TSUS project “PowerMoulds”, initiated by fischer Werkzeug- und Formenbau. We asked the four talents about their motivation for 10 weeks of business design and about the importance of intrapreneurship as well as digitalisation in the Industry.
Nadine | “Leave the comfort zone to use the development potential.”
Nadine is 27 years old, comes from Herrenberg and studied in Pforzheim and Ansbach Creative Communication & Brand Management and Multimedia & Communication. Through internships and student trainee activities she has dealt with strategic communication in the industry during her studies. With her expertise in brand management and her preference for challenging and complex topics she enriches the interdisciplinary team.
Why did you apply for the Tech Startup School project “PowerMoulds”?
I applied to leave my comfort zone, marketing and communication, and to deal with other business areas. I also wanted to expand my strategy knowledge. I see a great potential for my own development in the project.
What inspires you about the topic “Industry 4.0/5.0”?
That there is currently hardly any other major topic in industry and that this topic affects all industries and companies.
What attracts you to business design and working as an intrapreneur?
What interests me most about Business Design is that I am involved in a project from start to finish and that I am familiar with all components of our business model and know exactly what steps it took to arrive to this business model.
What is the biggest challenge for you in this project?
The biggest challenges for me are the previously unknown industry “injection moulding” and the limited time to familiarize myself with a wide range of topics with which I have not had any contact before.
What was your best moment in the project work so far?
I cannot limit it to one moment. I really appreciate the fact that we got together so quickly as a team to work well together. The appreciation we receive always motivates me.
What is your life motto and what personal goals do you want to achieve?
I have no motto. My next goal is a job with responsibility that I enjoy. I also want to visit as many countries as possible and learn to play piano sometime.
Fabian | “Only those who recognize their mistakes can start working on themselves.”
Fabian is 25 years old and the mechanical engineer in the team. After his bachelor’s degree in automotive engineering, he decided to take a master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Reutlingen University. Here he also discovered his passion for product development in the field of injection molding. Together with the team he wants to develop new business models for injection molding technology. The TSUS Intrapreneurship project offers him the best opportunity to do so.
Why did you apply for the Tech Startup School project “PowerMoulds”?
Thematically, the PowerMoulds project fitted very well with my teaching content and previous knowledge from my studies. I also hoped that the project would give me an even better insight into the industry and an overview of the current technical trends in tool and mold making. I was also very interested in working in an interdisciplinary team.
What inspires you about the topic of “Industry 4.0/5.0”?
The support of people by machines and thereby the optimization of work processes. Through the introduction of data based processes in the industry, both workers and the company can often benefit from increased efficiency. In addition, Industry 4.0/5.0 results in many exciting new business models.
What excites you about business design and working as an intrapreneur?
Working outside of my comfort zone and getting to know the processes for developing business models. In addition, it is nice as a team to be responsible for important projects such as PowerMoulds and to gain the appreciation of the idea generator (fischer).
What is the biggest challenge for you in this project?
To always ask the right and important questions at the right time in a very tight schedule.
What was your best moment in the project work so far?
Making the video about our business model.
What is your life motto?
Only those who recognize their mistakes can start working on themselves.
Which personal goals do you want to achieve?
To find out whether I see my future more in the design and development department or whether other areas like business design are also relevant for me. I would also like to learn more about the economic side behind tool and mould making. Of course it is also my goal to bring my experience and knowledge into the project team and to develop an innovative business model for PowerMoulds.
Silas | “Each team member contributes with his or her expertise to the achievement of the project goal.”
Silas comes from Ostfildern and is the youngest in the team at the age of 24. He completed his Master in Brand Management in Stuttgart. During his studies, he gained experience in communication in medium-sized industrial companies through internships and working student activities. The project suits his penchant for industry and strategic marketing. Through an Entrepreneurship course, Silas has already taken a liking to topics of corporate development during his studies.
Why did you apply for the Tech Startup School project “PowerMoulds”?
I applied for the project because I find it very exciting to work in an interdisciplinary team where each team member contributes with his or her own expertise to achieve the goal.
What inspires you about the topic “Industry 4.0/5.0”?
The topic Industry 4.0/5.0 has already accompanied me during my Bachelor thesis. I find it exciting to see how B2B companies integrate the topic into their brand communication.
What do you find exciting about business design and working as an intrapreneur?
Putting my own ideas into practice and taking responsibility.
What is the biggest challenge for you in this project?
The very complex topic of injection molding is the biggest challenge for me. To familiarize myself with it and to understand and be able to comprehend the processes and procedures.
What was your best moment in your project work so far?
Getting to know exciting new personalities and new contacts both in the team and at the Tech Startup School and fischer – not to forget the Oktoberfest dinner in the fischer staff restaurant on the first day ;-).
What is your life motto?

With this project I want to learn project management skills and to advance the team and project with my marketing expertise.

Sharareh | “A small change of the viewpoint can bring success and value to the entire value chain and all stakeholders.”
Sharareh has been in Stuttgart for about four years and originally comes from Iran. The 36-year-old completed her MBA in International Management and has worked in consulting for investment projects in the Middle East, among other things. She brings with her a great passion for innovation and business development issues.
Why did you apply for the Tech Startup School project “PowerMoulds”?
What I learned about Tech Startup School is that it is still a start-up itself, a platform for innovation and business model development using an agile framework that sharpens the start-up affinity. Being a small part of this family was not a difficult decision for me.
What inspires you about “Industry 4.0/5.0”?
It’s the fourth industrial revolution that everyone is talking about and that still gives cause for concern. It makes devices, processes and units intelligent and networked – simply put, but difficult to implement. The goal is to enable people and machines to communicate better and to generate more data transparency in order to make better decisions in the end. It is another inevitable challenge in which everyone, directly or indirectly, sooner or later plays and will play a role. In my case, I want to address it directly, through my work in business design and innovation management.
What do you find attractive about business design and working as an intrapreneur?
I want to be a person who can make a difference, a better one, even if it is small. I have worked in international projects with classical or semi-agile structure. It is a fact that there is still a lot to do and that this usually takes a lot of time. The topic “Entrepreneurship” shows how a small change, a small change of point of view can bring success and value to the whole value chain and all participants. It teaches us that it does not have to be a separate entity, but can be created within an already established organization. You have to be open and think openly, work together and build together.
What is the biggest challenge for you in this project?
Every similar project, for product or business model development, has its own characteristics of complexity. It is like getting to know a person. Usually time is a factor and how we act as a team in the defined time frame to get the best out of it. But it is exactly what makes it interesting and inspiring. I use this factor as motivation to learn as much as possible about the project in the given time and to communicate insights to my team.
What was your best moment in your project work so far?
Of course there are many small, valuable moments. But what I remember most is the time when we worked hard to develop and design our first version of the business model. Although everyone was tired, we didn’t give up. We encouraged each other and in the end we said good night with a smile.
What is your life motto?
The time is NOW. Live, laugh, love, lead now.
Which personal goals do you want to achieve?
First and foremost is personal development, which not only affects me but also my work. This project corresponds to my future professional vision.
